Loading of 3rd party commenting scripts, and other integrations

The comment sections on this website require a button press to load. This page explains why.

This website uses 3rd party plugins for some functionality, including the comment sections. These 3rd party plugins are better quality and more convinent than what could be hosted by this website, but they have the downside that your browser has to load them from whatever service provides that plugin.

For example, when a website loads the Disqus comment plugin, your browser has to send a request to Disqus servers to get the code for that plugin. This can partially compromise user privacy. Disquis does not get access to data like your answers or results from this website, but are able to see what page you are on and they could use tracking cookies to build up a profile of you. e.g. Facebook does this to serve advertising.

This website does not load comment plug-ins until explicitly requested by the user, by clicking the Load button. This prevents the comment provider from knowing you are on the page unless you actually interact with their widget. You can see how it works in the comments section of this page. It also has the benefit of making pages load faster!

See the box below to see how this works. This is not the place to leave comments about the website!
